FATHER Christmas has arrived at Beamish in style.
He rolled in to the open air museum in a 1923 steam locomotive, and toured in a vintage car, before switching on the Beamish Christmas tree lights.
It heralded the start of festive celebrations which will run until the New Year at the museum.
Highlights will include market stalls in the town selling local food, drinks, crafts and gifts. Period homes will be offering samples of traditional dishes.
All the buildings in the the Town, Pit Village, Home Farm and Pockerley Old Hall will be decked out in their festive finery.
Each Saturday and Sunday, Father Christmas will be in his magical grotto. There will also be skating on a real ice rink.
Christmas at Beamish runs every weekend from now until January 2.
