PARK visitors were in for a surprise when they came face to face with one of their favourite fairytale characters.

Snow White was at Barnes Park to promote an Easter event which will give youngsters the chance to meet more of her storybook friends.

Theatre group Centre Stage, which is presenting Disney’s Aladdin at Sunderland Empire in June, has organised a magical Easter celebration that gives little princes and princesses the chance to meet and interact with some of their favourite characters.

“This project is extremely exciting” says organiser Fiona Clegg.

“Last year when we took members of the cast of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast out and about, we had a phenomenal response.

“By arranging a fully-organised event for the children this year, we hope to allow them a chance to spend quality time with a whole host of characters as well as take part in great games and activities.

“There is even a chance to sing with the cast of Aladdin.”

The event will take place at the Quayside Exchange, in High Street East, Sunderland, from 2pm to 4pm next Thursday.

Fiona added: “As well as meeting the characters, each child will receive a personally-autographed photo with the character of their choice and a wrapped gift.

“There will also be additional surprises and prizes for the best fancy dress so we hope to see plenty of fabulous costumes. This is a great way to entertain the whole family during the Easter holidays.”

l Tickets are £10 for children and £5 for adults and are available from The Quayside Exchange on 514 4574 or by emailing csne@talktalk.net.
