A BODYBUILDING dad from Sunderland hopes to outmuscle the competition nationally.
Lee Casey finished second in the 90kg weight category at the UKBFF (UK Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation) show, in Glasgow.
And he is passing on his strong-arm tips to a young protege.
Training alongside him at Maxx Muscle Gym, in Hetton, is 18-year-old Georgina McConnell, from Houghton.
The sports science student is making a name for herself in the bodybuilding world, with Lee there to guide her.
Geprgina, a former Houghton Kepier School pupil, said: “I’ve always been going to the gym since I was about 14, but it’s only since I met Lee last year that I’ve improved a lot.
“We train together about four times a week.
“I’ve always wanted to do this and I’ve already managed to get sponsors after my first show, so it’s looking good.”
Lee, who lives with girlfriend Donna Gardner, 26, in Springwell, Sunderland, is passing on tips to Georgina along with his cousin Anth Bailes, who runs Maxx Muscle.
“Georgina is getting a lot of coverage at the minute because she is so young,” said the 31-year-old.
“We’re helping to prepare her for competitions which she’s going to take part in.”
Georgina recently claimed second place in the Nabba (National Amateur Body-Builders Association) North of Britain contest.
She is now set to take part at the British final of the competition in Southport, Merseyside, on June 2.
“I’ve been dieting for a while so I’ll be ready to go when I get there,” said the teenager.
“It’s canny boring eating the same stuff every day, but I think it’s worth it because at the end you can say you’ve tried your best.”
