ISN’T she lovely? Kerry Lovely is living up to her name after winning a heat in the Miss Sunderland contest.
The 21-year-old won a heat for the pageant held at Life of Riley bar in South Shields, earning herself a place in the final of Miss Sunderland, at Rainton Meadows, Arena in May.
Although Tamzin Cummings, 21, from Ashbrooke will represent the city in this year’s Miss England final, the winner of this year’s Miss Sunderland will compete in the national final next year.
This was the first heat for Miss Sunderland, which included a personality wear and evening wear round, and one of four planned by the organisers of Miss Sunderland.
Miss Sunderland organiser Simon Robertson said: “After all the talk, we were so excited to get the search for the next Miss Sunderland under way.
“For the first heat this year the standard was so high.
“All the girls should be so proud of themselves for getting this far.”
Judges also chose to send through Sara Walker, 19, Sunderland; Emma Todd, 17, from Cleadon and Bethany Pye, 18, from Boldon.
Meanwhile, the audience on the night chose to put through Louise Harrison, 19, from Sunderland.
Further heats will take place a Amore restaurant in Sunderland and at The Bridges.
This year’s Miss Sunderland final, in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care, will have a Rio Carnival theme and will take place on May 19.
