FOR DECADES, the Best Western Roker Hotel at Roker Terrace, has been a popular destination for anyone in the city seeking a place to eat, drink, spend the night or host an event.
Since being taken over by leading North East leisure firm, Tavistock Leisure Ltd, more than a decade ago the venue has gone from strength to strength and this growth looks set to continue thanks a raft of new offerings that have been introduced over the past few months.
One of the most notable changes at the Best Western Roker Hotel is the rebranding of its popular Italian eatery, Tavistock Italia, to Tavistock Italia Retro. The subsequent transformation of the restaurant’s décor and menu, as the name suggests, has centred on the introduction of classic Italian-style furnishings and cuisine, which new manager Federico Trulli says has made him feel like he’s “back home in Rome.”
Among the many new additions on the restaurant’s menu are a variety of classic and contemporary-style pastas, stone baked pizzas and a new range of chicken, meat and fish main dishes – a selection of which will be available at a reduced rate during the restaurant’s twice daily happy hours.
The Best Western Roker Hotel also house Tavistock Thai China, which has undergone a similar menu makeover, bringing an even greater taste of the Far East to the North East seaside.
Anyone dining here can now enjoy a wide variety of Pan Asian cuisine, including Asian tapas, Chinese classics, curries and desserts, chosen from either the standard menu or early evening, reduced rate menu, with a selection of set banquets also available throughout the day.
Those who prefer to make a night of things can also relax in the Best Western Roker Hotel’s late-opening R-Bar, with offers running nightly on cocktails, spirits and beers, or stay over in one of the hotel’s 43 stylish bedrooms, ranging from a standard single up to an executive sea view suite.
These rooms, which are ideal for special occasion stays, are also particularly useful for anyone attending a hotel based event, with the Best Western Roker Hotel proving a popular setting for all manner of functions including weddings, birthday celebrations and corporate events.
This year the Best Western Roker Hotel is also hoping to help more charities and voluntary organisations make the most of their fundraising activities, with the launch of a series of special events packages designed specifically for them.
The packages can apply to a variety of occasions, including gala dinners and sports club presentations, with costs having been specifically set to maximise proceeds on the organiser’s behalf.
Charity events previously held at the Best Western Roker Hotel have already raised up to £7000 and Tavistock Leisure Ltd hope that these new packages will help do the same for more of the North East’s charitable and voluntary organisations, schools and not-for-profit clubs.
