Chris Turner today challenged Hartlepool United star Ritchie Jones to start producing the goods "from the start".
Jones left the bench to give a man-of-the-match performance on Saturday at Victoria Park, where he inspired Pools in their draw with Leeds United.

Pools had battled hard against the title favourites, but it wasn't until the 26-year-old's introduct
ion just before the hour mark that they took charge of the game.

Jones will now be knocking on the proverbial door for a recall to the starting 11 for the visit of another promotion chaser, Huddersfield Town, a week on Saturday.

"Ritchie did fantastically well," Turner said. "I've said that we need that from him from 3 o'clock.

"He's had a few performances in the last 20 minutes when he's played really well. He played 35 or so minutes on Saturday and he was the difference.

"We need him to do it week-in, week-out from the start of games."
Leeds started strongly with Luciano Becchio having a header touched onto the bar by keeper Scott Flinders.

He was not to be denied though and soon headed past the keeper from Jermaine Beckford's floated cross.

It might have been 2-0 before the break but Flinders then made a point-blank save from Becchio.

In the second half, it was the arrival of Jones which turned the game.
Ritchie Humphreys was the man to make way and Jones immediately got Pools buzzing.

Peter Hartley's long-range shot just before the hour was a tame one but it fell at Adam Boyd's feet in the box and the striker's shot brought a fine save from Casper Ankergren diving to his right.

Jones then saw a shot from the corner of the area deflected for another corner as Pools raised their game.

An equaliser looked inevitable and it arrived on 71 minutes. Hartley played a ball to the feet of Sweeney on the edge of the box and his lay-off was perfect for Boyd who lashed a right-foot shot past Ankergren.

Pools looked the more likely winners, but Leeds are not in the top two for nothing. Naylor's lob rebounded off Flinders' right-hand post and Becchio was first to react, the Argentine netting from two yards.

Pools piled on the pressure as they looked for a second equaliser, but it took its time to arrive.

In the third and final minute for added time, a Jones free-kick was flicked on by Boyd and Sweeney arrived at the far post to head home.
