Gooch has played as a wing-back, central midfielder and second striker this term, and was fielded as something resembling a more traditional winger against MK Dons on Saturday.

Hide AdIt was a role that seemed to suit the 24-year-old, allowing him to put a number of enticing deliveries into dangerous areas over the course of the game.
And Gooch himself admits that he prefers to play in that more advanced role, feeling it suits his attributes.
But having already shown his versatility during his time at the Stadium of Light, Gooch is happy to be adaptable – should it be for the benefit of the team.
“I think anyone that knows me and has spoken to me before knows that I prefer playing closer to the striker,” he admitted.

"I think if anyone knows my background and knows me as a person and a player, I would like to be playing further forward.
"Today I was playing like a winger, not a wing-back, and I got the ball so many times in the final third and got crosses in the box.
"Whatever I have to do to help the team, that's what I'll do.”
