Horden rugby club to debate move to Peterlee Newtown’s Eden Lane ground
The Durham Northumberland One side, who celebrate their 90th year, are considering moving to Eden Lane, the former ground of Peterlee Newtown’s football side.
Eden Lane is currently empty after Northern League side North Shields ended their temporary stay at the end of last season to return to Tyneside.

Tomorrow they will be holding an Extraordinary General Meeting at their Northumberland Street clubhouse where officials will discuss the options with members.
President John Groves told SportMail: “All we have done at the moment is expressed an interest to use the facilities at Eden Lane.
“One or two other organisations, I believe, have also expressed an interest.

“We’ll discuss and decide what is best for Horden Rugby Club and go from there.”
As the crow flies, the Eden Lane ground is just hundreds of yards away from the Welfare Park ground where Horden currently ply their trade.
Should members back the idea, it is understood Peterlee Town Council would consider all applications next month.
At present, Horden’s rugby and cricket clubs share the field at Welfare Park, though each sport has separate clubhouses.
