Peterlee Sunday League: Cleary clearly has safety in his sights for cricketers

A full programme got the go-ahead for the first time in three months. Lee Cleary’s superb hat-trick was supported by a brace from man of the match Josh Dunning plus goals from James Lowery, Dave Allan and Liam Rouse, with Paul Wilkinson replying. Neil Luke starred for Albion. Horden are still on minus points following two deductions but are only five points adrift of third-bottom spot. South Hetton Cricket Club lost to new front-runners Hetton Social. Jack Brannigan’s brace and an effort from Steven Medd comfortably saw Hetton to a 3-0 success. Karl Powney starred for Hetton, Damian Hope for the cricketers. Easington Southside are still second despite a 5-1 hammering at Easington HMS Victory. Doubles from Nathan Graham and Carl Price, along with an effort from Ryan Douglas, steered Victory home, with Matt Billyard replying. Southside had Sean French and Jamie Stott sent off. Dale Harker ran the show for Victory. Goals from Josh Lincoln and sub Adam Bates helped Easington Welfare maintain their promotion challenge with a hard-earned 2-1 win at FC Peterlee Moorcock. Darren Major was the star man. Promotion hopefuls Shotton Builders Warehouse enjoyed an emphatic 7-0 win against Wingate Grange, with Philip Hickman’s hat-trick the highlight. Michael Boardman (2), Liam and Bradley Beeston also weighed in, despite the dismissal of Liam Atchison. Keeper Adrian Hesslewood starred for Grange. In the Premier Division, the top three clubs all dropped points, however Dawdon Welfare Park still remain firm favorites for the title. Their match of the day against second-top Horden CW Supporters Club ended 2-2. John Williams and John Bowes pounced for the Supporters, with Robbie Bird and Andrew Beer on target for the table-toppers, who remain nine points clear. Craig Price starred for Dawdon, with keeper Sam Hogg top for Horden. Peterlee Helford were held to a 1-1 draw at Seaham The George. Richard Graham struck for Helford, but Adam Wallace ensured a point for George, whose man of the match was keeper Keegan Ruddock. Shotton Comrades are fourth after a 1-0 defeat at Murton Park View, with Stephen Turner netting. Paul Milner starred for Park View, with keeper Andrew Ebdale best for the visitors, who had Stuart Softley sent off. Easington CIU enjoyed a comfortable 5-2 win against relegation rivals Thornley Harry’s Bar. Two-goal Gary McAndrew, Simon Todd, Paul Elliott and James Huntley netted, with Rob Huntley star man. Callum Haswell’s goal earned Easington Lane WMC a 1-1 derby draw with Hetton The Tuns, with Jones responding. Elliott Woods starred for Lane. Anthony Cook was in superb form for Murton New Hesledon, firing a hat-trick in their 7-1 Second Division rout of Peterlee Central Club. Gavin Hoggarth, David Parry, Ian Craggs and Kyle Fraser also struck, with Craig Deighton replying. Lee Sennett was Central’s top performer. Michael Kennedy’s hat-trick, backed by Dan Gibson and Jonathan Roberts, earned second-placed NSCC a 5-5 draw at Hetton Fox and Hounds. The New Seaham side had Ryan Chambers sent off. Seaham Marlborough romped to a 6-3 victory at Peterlee Oaklands, with star man Ryan Martin’s treble leading the way. Adam Hepple, Michael Bacon and Andy Johnston also notched. Chris Collings (2) and sub Barry Simpson earned Acre Rigg SC a 3-1 win over Peterlee Hearts 3-1, with Sean English replying. Michael Coates shone for Hearts. Third-top Wingate Plough beat Haswell Oddfellows Arms 7-1.
