Outs are a little more likely than ins – at first-team level, at least – next month, but nothing seems to be off the table for Bruce & Co heading into 2020.
Here we take a look at the THIRTEEN deals the Magpies could strike between now and February.
1. Dwight Gayle - OUT
The striker, according to Bruce, remains very much a part of United's plans moving forward this season. But, were you to cash in on the player, now has to be the right time. A host of takers in the second tier, but wages and a big fee could prove the stumbling block. With United's oversubscribed squad, the manager may also fear getting his hands tied when it comes to a possible replacement. | Getty Images Photo: Jan Kruger
2. Jarrad Branthwaite - CARLISLE UNITED
United retain 'first option' on the Carlisle United youngster but this is far from a 'done deal'. The 17-year-old has been very impressive for the Cumbrians in League Two, attracting interest from Celtic and Rangers north of the border as well as a host of Premier League clubs. | Getty Images Photo: Alex Davidson
3. Reagan Thomson - QUEENS PARK
According to reports north of the border this is a 'done deal'. United will reportedly pay upwards of £35,000 for the player when the January transfer window reopens. A midfielder, aged 17, Thomson would slot straight into the club's under-23 setup. Certainly one worth watching. | Getty Images Photo: Ian MacNicol
4. Jack Colback - OUT
If United want to sign players next month they need to start moving players on. Colback was so close to the Premier League 25-man cut, left out as the spare man when the Andy Carroll deal got done on the final day of the summer, following on from Emil Krafth and Jetro Willems deals in the final week of the window. | Getty Images Photo: Lintao Zhang
