This is what you need to know about the Tyne and Wear Metro, regional bus services, the Shields Ferry and Northern rail services.
Metro

Hide AdFrom Friday, December 27 until Monday, December 30, Metro services will run to the usual timetables.
On New Year’s Eve, a normal weekday service will run until 10pm, then at a half-hourly frequency until end of service.
Last trains will operate to timetable.
From 5pm until 9pm on New Year’s Eve, Haymarket station in Newcastle will be exit only.
There will be no Metros on New Year’s Day.
Buses
On New Year’s Eve most bus companies will run a Saturday timetable until about 6pm. The majority of last departures will take place somewhere between 6pm and 7pm.
Shields Ferry

Hide AdThe ferry will run to its normal timetable from Friday, December 27 to Monday, December 30.
On New Year’s Eve, there will be a normal Tuesday service with an early finish. The last crossing from South Shields will be at 6.45pm, and from North Shields at 7pm.
Rail: Northern Rail services between Newcastle and Sunderland
Northern will operate normal services on New Year’s Eve with a reduced timetable from 7pm.
There are no trains on New Year’s Day.
Nexus services
All Nexus TravelShops will open until 1pm on New Year's Eve and Nexus Customer Services is open from 8am until 4pm on New Year's Eve.
Both are closed on New Year’s Day.
