With Phil Parkinson set to bring in up to five new faces, it is likely that there will be some movement in the other direction during January. Here, we take a look at NINE players who could be moved on – whether permanently or on loan – during the winter transfer window:
1. Jon McLaughlin
The thought of the stopper departing wouldn’t have been entertained at the start of the season, but McLaughlin’s dip in form - coupled with Lee Burge’s emergence - means a January exit may not be out of the question. 2. Dylan McGeouch
McGeouch has been out of favour under Parkinson, with his appearances limited to cameos in the cup competitions. A host of sides would no doubt be keen on the cultured midfielder if he is made available in the winter transfer window. | JPIMedia Resell Photo: FRANK REID
3. Tom Flanagan
Another who has been out of favour and has mainly found himself on the bench in recent weeks. Flanagan’s contract comes to an end at the conclusion of this campaign, so a move from Wearside could prove appealing. | JPIMedia Photo: FRANK REID
4. Bali Mumba
Sunderland have a big decision to make on Mumba, who will undoubtedly be attracting interest from sides keen to take the youngster on loan. The Black Cats are yet to decide whether to allow him to make a temporary switch. | JPIMedia Photo: FRANK REID
