Firefighters have rescued a hedgehog that had become trapped down a plastic pipe.
Four firefighters from Washington were called to the Coach Road Estate in Washington at 6.22pm on Thursday to help free the little animal that was stuck 4ft down a vertical plastic pipe.
The crew used shovels and hand tools to remove the soil around the pipe to access the hedgehog.
The creature was then placed in the care of a RSPCA rescue officer who took it to Sunderland Rescue Centre.
