Armed police swoop on South Shields street after stabbing

The drama happened in Newmarket Walk, Westoe, in the last hours.
Police say a man was arrested following a stabbing on Westoe Road, just after 9am today.

The incident involved armed officers from Northumbria Police, the force helicopter, and the dog section.
Officers were seen leading a man away in handcuffs from the area and into a police van.
Police have been combing the area but are now leaving the scene.
A force spokesman said: "At 9.08am this morning police received a report that a man had been stabbed on Westoe Road, in South Shields.
"The man suffered minor injuries and did not require hospital treatment. A man has been arrested in connection with the incident."
